The levy hearing was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

The Board held the levy hearing. There was no one present to give public testimony.
Motion by Jecks, second by Lohse to adjourn the tax levy hearing.
Motion carried by voice acclamation.
The regular meeting was called to order at 6:03 p.m.

Motion by Jecks, second by Miner to approve the minutes of the November 16, 2009 Board meeting.
Motion carried by voice acclamation.
Motion by Miner, second by Pustelnik to approve the December expenditures and Treasurer’s report.

Communication/Recognition
· Junior High Students with 4.0 GPA’s for the first quarter of 2009-2010 were recognized with a certificate.
· Mr. Bergles would like to form an insurance committee to look into ways to reduce costs, but still keep benefits at a level close to the current coverage.
· There was 15% perfect attendance for the first quarter in the Junior High.

A blood drive will be held January 14, 2010 from

· Representative Roger Eddy has sponsored a bill that will help districts avoid unfunded mandates at the state level.
· The State may do away with General State Aid poverty grant hold harmless which could result in a $200,000 loss next fiscal year to the district. They are also looking at prorating categorical and possibly eliminating the Reading Improvement and PreK grants altogether for next fiscal year.
· Area schools are considering holding a candidates’ education forum for those running for Representative Boland’s seat.
· The District received ARRA IDEA grant approval notice today.
Parents and those students recognized for the 4.0 GPA, Linda Minas, second grade teacher, and Paula Spencer, third grade teacher, were present.
There was no public participation.
Resolution presented by Jecks: Motion by Greer, second by Lohse to approve the tax levy as presented at an extension increase of 7.5136%.

The Board held a discussion on strategic planning.
Motion by Jecks, second by Pustelnik to enter executive session to conduct the bi-annual review of the executive session minutes (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(21)), discuss the Superintendent’s Evaluation (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)) and to discuss the appointment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees (5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)).
